D8 · Digital Nomad/Remote Work Visa
Details

Aimed at third country nationals (non-EU/EEA/Swiss) who work remotely or are self-employed abroad.

Remote workers wishing to come to Portugal can apply for a temporary stay visa for remote work if they wish to stay up to one year, or for the new residency visa for remote workers if they wish to stay for longer periods.

(a) In the case of a temporary visa application, a promise of a work contract must be presented.
(b) In the case of a residence visa application, a work contract must be presented.
(c) For both cases, should the applicant be a freelancer, a services provision agreement may be presented.
(dM eans of subsistence - for both cases - must be equal to 4x minimum wage of Portugal in the last 3 months.

Attend Interview at Consulate.
Visa Issuance.
Travel to Portugal within 4 months of issuance of visa.
Attend AIMA Appointment.
Issuance of Residency Permit (valid for 2 years).
1st Renewal (after 2 years, renew your permit, valid for 3 years).
Apply for permanent residence or Citizenship (optional).
D7 · Own Income Visa
Details

Aimed at third country nationals (non-EU/EEA/Swiss) who wish to live in Portugal off their foreign sourced income (pensions, movable assets, real estate, intellectual property, financial investments, etc.).

(a) It is valid for two entries into the country, allowing the holder to stay in Portugal for a period of four months.
(b) It must be applied for at the Portuguese consulate in the country of origin.
(c) Allows for working / investing in Portugal, provided that the applicant lives in the country for a period of 183 days during the 1st year until the residence permit renewal.
(d) Visa exemption for traveling within the Schengen Area.
(e) Family reunification available.
(f) Applying for permanent residency after 5 years.
(g) Possibility of applying for permanent residency or citizenship after 5 years.
* If the applicant is staying in Portugal legally (e.g. on a tourist visa), he/she can skip this step and apply there for a residence

(a) Evidence of having sufficient financial means and long-term accommodation in Portugal.
* Minimum income required depends on the number of family members - suggested annual income to be around € 30,000 (applicant) to € 50,000 (family).
